Attorney General Announces Investigation Into Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting in Manchester

MANCHESTER, N.H. — The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office has opened an investigation into an officer-involved shooting that occurred earlier this morning in Manchester and resulted in the death of an adult male.
According to a news release from Attorney General John M. Formella, members of the Attorney General’s Office and the New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit responded after Manchester police encountered a suspicious vehicle in the area of South Mammoth Road. A pursuit began and ended with a motor vehicle crash. An adult male fled the crash scene on foot.
A foot pursuit followed. In a subsequent encounter with police near 293 South Mammoth Road, the adult male was shot. Life-saving measures were initiated, and the individual was transported to a hospital, where he later died.
The Attorney General’s Office stated that the investigation into the shooting is ongoing. An autopsy is being scheduled, and the identity of the deceased will be released after the autopsy is completed and appropriate notifications are made.
The identities of the officers who used deadly force will not be disclosed until formal interviews take place. Officials said the exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain under active investigation.
