State officials released new details after a 911 call reporting shots fired led Bath Police to a residence on Tyler Way, where two women were found deceased and a suspect was detained at the scene.

At approximately 1:15 p.m., officers responded to 11 Tyler Way and discovered two deceased females, identified as Cindy Moody, 67, and her daughter, Kristal Moody, 39. They appeared to have suffered gunshot wounds. At the residence, officers located Cindy Moody’s brother-in-law, Charles “Chuck” Readey, 73, with a firearm; he was safely detained. An arrest warrant has been issued charging Readey with two counts of second-degree murder (RSA 630:1-b, I(a)) for knowingly causing the deaths of Kristal and Cindy Moody.

An arraignment is anticipated to be scheduled by the court. Autopsies for both victims are scheduled to be conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Additional information will be released as it becomes available while protecting the integrity of the investigation.
