Burglary in Fairfield Leads to Pursuit and Arrest; No Injuries Reported

FAIRFIELD, Maine — Law enforcement officers from the Maine State Police, Fairfield Police Department, and Waterville Police Department responded to a burglary in progress on Dyer Court in Fairfield at approximately 9:21 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2025. The initial report described an armed male who appeared to be under the influence of drugs, had forced entry, was acting erratically, and was damaging property inside the residence.
A Trooper arrived first and observed a male fleeing the residence and entering a black Ford sedan. According to the report, the suspect did not comply with commands and began backing up the street while yelling out the window before fleeing from Dyer Court. A Trooper located the vehicle and attempted to stop it; however, the operator failed to stop, and a motor vehicle pursuit followed through Waterville.
The pursuit ended on Water Street when the suspect’s vehicle struck a guardrail and came to a stop. The operator fled on foot but was taken into custody a short time later. No injuries were reported.
The suspect was identified as Joel Williams, 27, of Vassalboro. Williams was transported to the Somerset County Jail and charged with the following offenses:
Burglary
Criminal Mischief
Terrorizing
Eluding an Officer
Driving to Endanger
OUI Drugs
Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident
Criminal Speed
Reckless Conduct
Refusing to Submit to Arrest or Detention
Violating Conditions of Release
Officials reported no injuries associated with the incident. There were no additional details provided regarding property damage inside the residence beyond the initial report of damage. Information about any occupants present at the time of the burglary was not included in the release.
