A Manchester man was sentenced to nearly two years in federal prison after admitting he illegally possessed a firearm and ammunition—conduct prosecutors said posed a serious risk to the community.
U.S. District Judge Joseph N. Laplante sentenced Anthony Clagon, 36, to 23 months in federal prison and 3 years of supervised release. In June 2025, Clagon pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a prohibited person. According to court documents and statements in court, Clagon was convicted of second-degree murder in 2010 and could not legally possess a firearm. After completing that sentence, he began selling drugs. In November 2024, he sold marijuana to a customer who paid with a firearm and two magazines. A search of Clagon’s apartment recovered the firearm and two magazines, each loaded with nine .45 caliber rounds.
“This defendant has already taken a life and remains prohibited from possessing firearms as a result of his previous criminal conduct,” said U.S. Attorney Erin Creegan. Acting ATF Special Agent in Charge Bryan DiGirolamo said the case prioritized “dangerous felons in possession of firearms.” The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case with assistance from the Manchester Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew T. Hunter prosecuted.
