A Belmont man was arrested Friday night after a State Police pursuit through multiple Lakes Region communities ended when the vehicle crashed into a telephone pole in Laconia, authorities said.

New Hampshire State Police said Trooper Thomas Seager, assigned to Troop E, attempted to stop a blue Hyundai Sonata in Laconia for a violation. Police said the driver refused to stop, and a pursuit began.

Authorities said Troopers followed the vehicle through Laconia and Gilford before returning to Laconia. The pursuit ended on Bowman Street after the driver crashed into a telephone pole, police said.



Arrest and Charges



The driver was identified as Andrew J. Decormier, 33, of Belmont, State Police said. Troopers determined Decormier had a probation warrant and charged him with:


  • Reckless conduct with a deadly weapon

  • Disobeying a police officer

  • Driving after being deemed a habitual offender

  • Other motor vehicle offenses



Police said Decormier was held at the Belknap County Jail pending arraignment scheduled for Monday, Jan. 26, 2026, in Laconia District Court.
