FMO Investigating Fire in Wayne That Destroyed Home

WAYNE, Maine — The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office (FMO) is investigating a structure fire that heavily damaged a home on Wood Road in Wayne Tuesday evening.
On December 9, 2025, at approximately 6:25 p.m., the Wayne Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 29 Wood Road. Shortly after crews arrived, the house was found to be fully engulfed in flames.
Investigators from the Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office were requested to assist with the fire investigation.
All occupants of the home were able to exit the residence safely. One individual sustained a minor injury and was transported by Winthrop Ambulance to a local hospital for medical evaluation.
Due to the extent of the fire damage, the cause of the fire is currently undetermined. However, officials report that the investigation is ongoing.
Several mutual aid departments were needed to help extinguish the fire.
