State Police responded early this morning to an overturned tractor-trailer on I-295 in Freeport. According to officials, the driver of a 2024 Mack truck, identified as Nikola Loncar, 42, of Colorado, drifted off the right side of the roadway and struck an embankment, causing the truck to overturn off the roadway.

Loncar, who was wearing his seatbelt, had to be removed from the vehicle by Freeport Fire personnel. He was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Maine State Police, the Maine Department of Transportation, and Freeport Police and Fire assisted at the scene. The Exit 24 off-ramp remains closed as recovery crews work to remove the truck and clear the area.
With heavy traffic expected across Maine today, officials urge motorists to remain patient and consider alternate routes to help reduce congestion.
