No injuries were reported after a first-alarm fire at PSI Molded Plastics on Wickers Drive in Wolfeboro on Thursday, January 22, 2026, though the building sustained damage.

Wolfeboro Fire-Rescue said it was alerted at 6:28 p.m. (1828 hours) to a fire in a waste compactor attached to the building at 1828 hours. Group 2, led by Lt. Frank Bellefleur, responded with Engine 3 and Engine 2. Upon arrival, crews observed heavy smoke coming from the compactor and a nearby portion of the building and requested a first-alarm assignment. Employees had already evacuated.

Firefighters made entry and found the fire had extended into the building, with the sprinkler system activating. Wolfeboro Fire-Rescue said two handlines, along with the sprinkler system, stopped the extension and brought the fire under control by 7:37 p.m. (1937 hours).

Officials said fire damage was confined to the area of the compactor, but smoke damage occurred throughout the building. Wolfeboro Truck 5 and Ambulance 1 also responded.
Assisting agencies included Tuftonboro Fire-Rescue, Ossipee Corner Fire Department, Center Ossipee Fire Rescue, Wakefield Fire/Rescue, Stewart’s Ambulance Service, and the Wolfeboro Police Department. Alton Fire Department provided station coverage at Central Station.
Wolfeboro Fire-Rescue Chief Tom Zotti credited the sprinkler system with slowing the fire’s spread, noting that one sprinkler head operated above the compactor door and helped limit extension until firefighters extinguished the fire.
The facility is closed while cleanup is completed. The cause remains under investigation by Wolfeboro Fire-Rescue and the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office, but the fire is believed to be accidental.
