CONCORD, N.H. — The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office released new details Saturday about an officer-involved shooting that occurred Friday evening in Charlestown.

According to Attorney General John M. Formella, the incident began around 8:30 p.m. on November 14, 2025, when a Charlestown Police officer attempted to stop a speeding vehicle with no license plate on Claremont Road. The vehicle, operated by Christian Paquette, 23, initially refused to stop and accelerated away. A police pursuit followed, with speeds reaching an estimated 90 mph.

Officials said Paquette eventually stopped, exited the vehicle, and fled on foot in the area of 60 Caryl Lane. During the foot pursuit, the officer observed Paquette holding a knife. Paquette refused to drop the weapon and moved toward the officer. The officer then used deadly force and fired, striking Paquette.

Paquette was taken to a local hospital and remains in stable condition. There were no other occupants in the vehicle. The officer was not physically injured. The Attorney General’s Office stated the officer was wearing a body-worn camera, which recorded the moments immediately before, during, and after the shooting.

Charlestown Police have charged Paquette with various offenses connected to the vehicle pursuit and his actions toward the officer. Specific charge details were not provided in the Attorney General’s update.

The New Hampshire Department of Justice is leading the investigation into the shooting with assistance from the New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit. The identity of the officer who used deadly force will be released after a formal interview is conducted. That interview is expected within the next 5–10 business days, according to the Attorney General’s Office.

Further information will be released as it becomes available. Media contacts listed by the Attorney General’s Office are Michael S. Garrity, Director of Communications (Michael.S.Garrity@doj.nh.gov, 603-931-9375), and Senior Assistant Attorney General Benjamin J. Agati (Benjamin.J.Agati@doj.nh.gov).
