Second Alarm Fire at Chase Avenue Home Displaces Nine, One Treated for Smoke Inhalation

WATERVILLE, Maine — Nine family members were displaced and one person was taken to the emergency department for smoke inhalation following a structure fire early Wednesday morning, according to the fire department.
Officials said crews responded at 3:15 a.m. on January 14 to a reported structure fire at 12 Chase Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters reported finding a two-story single-family dwelling with heavy fire showing. The on-duty Battalion Chief struck a second alarm to bring in additional mutual aid resources.

Fire crews were able to achieve a quick knockdown, according to the release, but the building sustained heavy fire and water damage. Nine family members were displaced as a result of the fire, and one individual was transported to the emergency department for smoke inhalation.
The Red Cross is assisting the displaced family, officials said.
The Maine State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
