Dover Police recognized Officer Derek O’Neil as Employee of the Quarter, highlighting his mentorship, teamwork, and consistent support for colleagues across the department.

Officer O’Neil began his law enforcement career with Dover in 2018 and serves as a Field Training Officer, and a member of both the Crime Scene Unit and the Peer Support Team. According to the nomination by Officer Madsen, O’Neil demonstrates informal leadership—actively listening, offering constructive feedback, and modeling the standard younger staff should strive to meet. The nomination notes he takes an interest in learning about colleagues and ensures they feel heard, often checking on team members even when off duty.

Dispatcher Navelski added that Officer O’Neil responds to assigned calls without delay and maintains a positive attitude.
