Victim Identified in Fatal E-Scooter Crash in Hampton

HAMPTON, N.H. — The Hampton Police Department has identified the man who died in an e-scooter crash reported early Saturday, November 8, 2025.
According to a department release, at approximately 12:54 a.m., police received a 911 call for a person down near Ashworth Avenue and G Street. Responding officers located a male who appeared to have been involved in an accident with his e-scooter. Hampton Fire and Rescue responded, and the male was declared deceased on scene.
Police identified the operator as Joseph M. Pepin, 34, formerly of Westford, Massachusetts, who had recently been residing in Hampton, New Hampshire.
Investigators determined that the scooter was the only vehicle involved. Police say Mr. Pepin had been operating on a sidewalk northbound on Ashworth Avenue near G Street when he lost control and crashed. Mr. Pepin was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
