YORK, Maine — York Police arrested a Philadelphia woman Friday afternoon following a reported fraud in progress at the Atlantic Federal Credit Union in York. The incident was reported at 2:27 p.m., after a female suspect allegedly presented false identification belonging to another person in an attempt to obtain a large cash withdrawal.

While officers were en route, the suspect left the bank and was believed to be walking south on Route 1. Police broadcast a description: a white female wearing jeans, white sneakers, a jacket, a winter hat, and carrying a Louis Vuitton bag.

An officer in an unmarked unit later observed the woman in the parking lot of Sherwin-Williams, approximately a quarter-mile south of the credit union. Officers responded to the location and took the suspect into custody. According to police, items found in her possession included a large amount of cash, a stolen driver’s license, a debit card, a fraudulent check, and narcotics.

The suspect was identified as Lindsay Claire Rischow, 32, last known address Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She has been charged with Aggravated Forgery (Class C) and was transported to the York County Jail.

Police noted the same female suspect was involved in a similar fraud on November 13 in Wells, Maine. Following that incident, a photo of the suspect was circulated to local law enforcement agencies.

During the arrest, the suspect told officers she had been picked up in Philadelphia and “put to work” cashing checks by unknown males. Police said those males fled in a large black SUV, believed to be a Ford Explorer, which was reportedly connected to the Wells fraud the previous day and is possibly related to Felony Lane Gang activity in the Northeast.

York Police described the Felony Lane Gang as an organized crime group operating in the region that commits car burglaries to obtain debit cards, checks, and other negotiable instruments for fraud. Authorities urged the public to remain vigilant by locking vehicles and securing belongings.

York Police commended Atlantic Federal Credit Union for promptly calling 911 and providing a detailed suspect description, and credited the swift response by officers for the arrest. No additional information about further charges or court appearances was included in the release.
