A 19-year-old Lebanon man was arrested after the York County Sheriff’s Office investigated a report that several rounds were fired from one vehicle into another on Route 202 early Saturday morning.

The driver of the targeted vehicle was not injured.

Gunfire Reported on Route 202

According to the York County Sheriff’s Office, a driver reported traveling on Route 202 when a black sedan pulled alongside his vehicle and several rounds were fired into his car.

The driver was not struck.

Deputies responded and determined that two rounds had struck the vehicle. According to the Sheriff’s Office, one went through the driver’s side door and another struck a tire, disabling the vehicle.

Investigators Identify Suspect

The driver provided authorities with a description of the other vehicle. The resulting investigation led deputies to identify a suspect and vehicle.

The York County Sheriff’s Office issued a bulletin to area police departments.

At approximately 4:40 a.m., a Sanford Police officer spotted the suspect vehicle at a business in Sanford.

Arrest Made in Sanford

Sanford Police contacted the driver, identified as Zachary Shaw, 19, of Lebanon.

Shaw was arrested on charges of Reckless Conduct with a Dangerous Weapon and Criminal Mischief. Authorities said a firearm was located inside the vehicle.

The vehicle and firearm were seized for processing.

Shaw was transported to the York County Jail, where bail was set at $25,000 cash. According to the Sheriff’s Office, he had not posted bail and was scheduled to make his first court appearance Monday, August 24, at the York Judicial Center in Biddeford.

The investigation remains active, and authorities said the charges could be upgraded at a later time.

The charges are allegations. Shaw is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
