Arrest Made in Standish Homicide; Lynn Perkins Charged with Murder in Death of Matthew Hamilton

STANDISH, Maine — Detectives with the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit – South arrested Lynn Perkins, 37, of Standish on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at approximately 12:40 p.m. at 715 River Road in Standish. According to the release, Perkins has been charged with Murder in connection with the death of Matthew Hamilton, 49.
State police report that Hamilton was located deceased inside the River Road residence on Friday, October 3, 2025. The Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta conducted an examination and determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound. The manner of death was ruled homicide. The release states that Perkins and Hamilton had been in a relationship.
Following Thursday’s arrest, Perkins was transported to the Cumberland County Jail, where she will be held without bail. The investigation is ongoing. Officials stated that no other information is available at this time.
Previous release recap: On Friday, October 3, 2025, at approximately 6:50 p.m., the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to 715 River Road in Standish for a reported disturbance. Upon arrival, deputies located a male deceased inside the residence. The Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit – South. The deceased was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for an autopsy. In that initial update, the deceased was identified as Matthew Hamilton, 49, of Cumberland County. At the time, state police reported that the cause and manner of death were not being released, the investigation into the circumstances was ongoing, all persons involved were identified, and there was no threat to the public.
*The earlier notice specified “Cumberland County” in place of a specific town because the victim had recently lived in more than one community within the county.
Today’s arrest announcement identifies a suspect and charge in the case and establishes the current custody status in Cumberland County. Authorities indicated that additional details, including future court proceedings or further investigative information, will be provided when available through official updates.
