SOMERSWORTH, N.H. — Shortly before 5 p.m., the Somersworth Fire Department was dispatched to 508 High St. for a reported kitchen fire, according to emergency radio communications.
Upon arrival of the first-due companies, a first alarm was transmitted. Radio traffic indicated the request for mutual-aid resources to both respond to the scene and provide coverage for the City of Somersworth. The listed mutual-aid communities were Rochester, Rollinsford, Durham, Dover, Berwick (Maine), and South Berwick (Maine).
Initial companies reported that the fire was quickly knocked down. Following the knockdown, units transitioned to ventilation operations per the radio updates. The sequence of command was also noted over the air: Dover Fire & Rescue Battalion 1 initially assumed command, and command was later transferred to Somersworth Chief 2 as operations progressed.
Shortly after the first alarm was transmitted, responding mutual-aid companies were canceled, with radio traffic citing that the incident had been rapidly brought under control by the first-arriving Somersworth companies. Units on scene continued ventilation and related checks following suppression activity.
This report reflects what was transmitted over the air at the time of the incident. The initial call referenced a kitchen fire at the High Street address. As is standard with incident responses based on early field communications, details may be clarified or updated by the involved agencies following their on-scene assessment and any subsequent investigations. At this time, no further information has been provided over the air beyond the dispatch, the first-alarm activation, the command transfer, the knockdown and ventilation, and the cancellation of mutual aid due to the fire being brought under control.
Scanner Alerts Media will provide additional updates if and when official information is released by the responding agencies.
