BRUNSWICK, Maine — A Bath woman was taken into custody Thursday following a vehicle pursuit that began near Cooks Corner, included two collisions with a police cruiser, and continued onto Interstate 295 before ending in Richmond, according to the Brunswick Police Department.

Police said the incident started at 10:56 a.m. on October 30, 2025, when officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Route 1 near Cooks Corner for a criminal traffic offense. The operator, Emily Schroder, 33, of Bath, allegedly attempted to elude officers at a high rate of speed northbound on Route 1. The initial pursuit was terminated shortly thereafter.

A few minutes later, an officer located the vehicle on Oak Street in Brunswick. According to the department, Schroder drove toward and intentionally struck the front of the stopped cruiser. She then reversed and hit the parked cruiser a second time, with greater force. The officer was inside the cruiser during the impacts but was not injured. Schroder accelerated away, and additional officers followed.

The pursuit moved through Topsham, Bowdoin, and Bowdoinham, then onto I-295 northbound, where officers again terminated the pursuit due to the extreme speeds reported. Schroder was later located at a gas station in Richmond and taken into custody with assistance from Richmond Police, the Maine State Police, and the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office. She was evaluated at Mid Coast Hospital and subsequently transported to the Cumberland County Jail.

Police said Schroder was denied bail due to underlying bail conditions.
