RINDGE, N.H. — Rindge Fire Department crews responded to two incidents Saturday night: a brush fire on Old New Ipswich Road and a separate act of arson on Route 119.

At 8:51 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to Old New Ipswich Road near the New Ipswich town line for a brush fire measuring roughly 100 by 50 feet and spreading into a wooded area. Additional resources were requested, including 26 Tanker 1, 26 Engine 2, and a brush truck from the Jaffrey Fire Department. Approximately 2,000 gallons of water were used to fully extinguish the fire. A point of origin adjacent to the roadway supports a probable cause of careless disposal of smoking materials.

At 10:09 p.m., crews were dispatched to Route 119 near Sun Cliff Road for burning objects in the roadway. After clearing mop-up from the first incident, 26 Engine 2 arrived to find a single tire on fire on the double-yellow centerline. The fire was extinguished and debris removed. The department described the incident as an act of arson.

The department noted that a statewide burn ban issued September 22, 2025, remains in effect.
