Clinton man sentenced to 28 years in gross sexual assault case

CLINTON, Maine — The Clinton Police Department reports that Christopher Connors has been sentenced to 28 years in the custody of the Maine Department of Corrections following his conviction in a case involving the sexual assault of a minor under 12.
According to the department, Connors was found guilty by a jury on September 17, 2025 of Gross Sexual Assault and Unlawful Sexual Contact. The case originated with an investigation led by Sgt. Roger Smith, and the arrest was announced in October 2023.
Police said the outcome reflects months of investigative work and coordination among multiple agencies. Assisting agencies included the Waterville Police Department, Fairfield Police Department, the Maine State Police Crime Laboratory, the Office of the District Attorney, and victim advocacy professionals.
The department acknowledged the survivor and family for their role throughout the process.
