HAMPTON, N.H. — A Massachusetts man was arrested on multiple charges after a pursuit that began on Interstate 95 in Hampton Falls and ended in Portsmouth.
At 11:05 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, Troopers assigned to the Troop A barracks received information that the driver of a vehicle had fled from members of the Massachusetts State Police after an attempted traffic stop for erratic driving on I-95 northbound near the New Hampshire border. Shortly after, Sgt. Gary Wood Jr. observed the vehicle, a 2015 Mercedes GLA, being driven erratically on I-95 northbound in Hampton Falls. When the driver failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated.
As the pursuit continued into Hampton, Troopers deployed tire deflation devices. Despite driving over the devices, the driver accelerated and continued to flee. At the Hampton Toll Plaza, the driver passed through a closed toll lane and damaged state-owned traffic cones before continuing north.
The pursuit continued into Portsmouth, where Troopers deployed an additional set of tire deflation devices that successfully struck the Mercedes’ tires. The driver kept going and, when another Trooper deployed a further set of devices, the driver swerved, placing the Trooper at risk of serious injury.
Shortly after, the driver took Exit 5, traveled a short distance along the U.S. Route 1 Bypass northbound, and came to a stop in the parking lot of a service station. The driver and sole occupant was taken into custody.
The driver was identified as Rayshawn T. Patton-Brisbon, 40, of Danvers, Massachusetts. During a subsequent investigation, Troopers determined Patton-Brisbon showed signs of impairment. He was charged with two felony counts of reckless conduct and misdemeanor charges of aggravated driving under the influence of liquor, disobeying an officer, and criminal mischief.
Patton-Brisbon refused the services of a bail commissioner and was transported to the Rockingham County Jail, where he was held pending an appearance in Portsmouth District Court scheduled for Monday, Nov. 24, 2025.
Troopers were assisted by the Portsmouth Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police. All aspects of this incident remain under investigation. Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is asked to contact Sgt. Wood at Gary.J.WoodJr@dos.nh.gov.
