Early Morning Fire Destroys Outbuilding in Buxton

Buxton Fire-Rescue responded to an all-hands fire early Tuesday morning after an outbuilding was reported fully involved behind a commercial garage on Justin Merrill Road.
No injuries were reported.

Firefighters Encounter Burning Lumber and Debris
Buxton Communications received the initial report at approximately 2:45 a.m. and dispatched Buxton Fire-Rescue.
Before fire crews arrived, Buxton Police reported a fully involved outbuilding behind a commercial garage.
Ladder 414 and Groveville companies, including Tank 413 and Ambulance 425, arrived approximately nine minutes after the initial report and found the outbuilding had collapsed.
Firefighters encountered an approximately 50-by-50-foot pile of lumber and debris actively burning and threatening the nearby structure.
All-Hands Assignment Requested
Crews from Ladder 414 deployed two attack lines and began extinguishment operations.
Due to the fire conditions and need for additional resources, Captain B. Redlon requested an all-hands assignment, bringing additional engine and tanker resources to the scene.
Tank 413 established a water supply from Justin Merrill Road. The main body of fire was brought under control approximately 16 minutes after the initial report.
Crews remained at the scene for extensive overhaul of the debris pile and remains of the outbuilding. Water was supplied through a tanker shuttle using the Atkinson Road dry hydrant.
Goodwins Mills Fire Department and Scarborough Fire Department provided station coverage during the incident.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
