Fire Marshal Investigating Intentionally Set Fire at Vacant Home in Mexico

The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a fire that occurred Tuesday evening, Jan. 6, 2026, at a vacant residence in Mexico.

According to the Office of the State Fire Marshal, the fire was reported at approximately 7:26 p.m. at 9 Oxford Street. Fire investigators have worked the incident over the past several days and have classified the fire as incendiary.

Investigators are seeking to identify an individual shown in still images who may have information relevant to the investigation. The Fire Marshal’s Office is also asking nearby residents and businesses to review security and surveillance footage for any activity that could assist investigators.
