Fires in Turner and at Farmington’s Troll Valley Campground Under Review; One Ruled Accidental

TURNER & FARMINGTON, Maine — The Maine Office of State Fire Marshal (FMO) is investigating two separate weekend fires in Androscoggin and Franklin counties. One incident involved two sheds in Turner; the other, a building at Troll Valley Campground in Farmington. No injuries to people were reported. In Farmington, one cat perished.

Turner: Two sheds destroyed; cause under investigation
On Saturday, October 25, 2025, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the Turner Fire Department was dispatched for a reported structure fire at a single-family residence in Turner. Crews arrived to find two small sheds fully involved.
The sheds were immediately adjacent to one another.
No residential structures were involved or damaged.
Both sheds were a total loss.

According to FMO, the cause remains under investigation. No injuries were reported at the scene.
Farmington: Troll Valley Campground fire ruled accidental

On Sunday, October 26, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Farmington Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 283 Red Schoolhouse Road, the location of Troll Valley Campground. Firefighters encountered a working structure fire and quickly brought it under control with assistance from area mutual-aid departments.
The Fire Marshal’s Office was requested to assist. After examination, investigators determined:
The fire originated in a confined space in the ceiling between the basement and first floor of the building.
The cause has been ruled accidental.
No human injuries were reported.
One cat was found deceased.
The building sustained significant damage.
