Fleeing driver crashes into New Hampton home; Gilmanton man arrested

NEW HAMPTON, N.H. — A Gilmanton man crashed into an unoccupied home in New Hampton after fleeing a traffic stop on Route 104 in Meredith.
At 12:43 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025, Trooper Nathan Cobis of the Troop E barracks attempted to stop a 2013 Ford Taurus for a tinted windows violation on Route 104 westbound in Meredith, near the New Hampton town line. The driver, identified as Patrick Cameron Hamel, 19, of Gilmanton, did not stop and accelerated at a high rate of speed while illegally passing other vehicles.
Shortly after, Hamel lost control of the Ford and crashed into an unoccupied home on Shoreline Drive in New Hampton, causing significant damage to the home and the vehicle. Hamel was taken into custody and transported to the New Hampton Police Department for booking and processing.
Hamel was charged with:
Reckless conduct with a deadly weapon
Reckless operation
Conduct after an accident
Endangering the welfare of a child
Criminal restraint
Disobeying a police officer
Hamel was held in preventive detention and is scheduled to appear in Laconia District Court on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025.
Troopers were assisted on scene by members of the New Hampton police and fire departments and the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services.
