GRAY, Maine — The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office says four people were detained Tuesday after a vehicle fled from the Maine State Police (MSP) and a multi-agency search followed in the area of Colley Hill Road.
According to the sheriff’s office, the call for assistance came at 10:54 a.m. on November 18. Deputies in the area quickly detained three occupants. A K-9 team was then deployed to locate a fourth suspect. The K-9 located the suspect, who challenged law enforcement, stated he was armed with a handgun, and then concealed himself in a swamp.
Additional resources from the Cumberland County Regional Emergency Services Unit were requested. Law enforcement contained the area and, after an extended negotiation, the fourth suspect surrendered.
The investigation is ongoing. No further details were released.
