Troopers responded Friday morning to a crash on Benedicta Road in Sherman involving a vehicle and a horse-drawn wagon, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries to the wagon’s operator and a citation for the driver of the pickup.
According to the initial investigation, at approximately 7:52 a.m. a 2003 Toyota pickup attempted to pass a horse and wagon traveling in the same direction but did not have enough room to do so and struck the wagon. The male operator of the wagon was ejected, landed on the roadway, and was transported to Houlton Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The wagon was destroyed, and the horse sustained a laceration to its leg and foot.
The driver of the Toyota, 42-year-old Lindsay Duffy-Stanley of Benedicta, was not injured and was cited for driving to endanger.
