CONCORD, N.H. — One person has died and a joint investigation is underway following an early-morning fire at 2 Rhodora Court, according to New Hampshire State Fire Marshal Sean P. Toomey, Concord Fire Chief John Chisholm, and Concord Police Chief Bradley Osgood.

Just before 3:30 a.m. today (Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025), Concord Fire Department units were dispatched for a medical alert at the address. Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke coming from the front door and began an immediate search of the residence. During those operations, crews rescued an adult female who had been sleeping; she was removed without injury. A second occupant, an adult male, was later located on a different floor of the home and was pronounced deceased.

Authorities said the identity of the deceased is being withheld pending an autopsy scheduled Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025, at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The surviving occupant is being assisted by the American Red Cross.

Investigators from the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene. A preliminary investigation determined there were no working smoke alarms on the floor where the fire started. No injuries to firefighters were reported.

The origin and cause of the fire remain under active investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office, the Concord Fire Department, and the Concord Police Department. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to contact the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office at (603) 223-4289 or fmo@dos.nh.gov.

Officials used the incident to remind residents about home fire safety: ensure working smoke alarms are installed and tested regularly; if an alarm sounds or smoke/fire is visible, evacuate immediately and call 911. Questions about residential fire safety can be directed to local fire departments or the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

No additional details were released. Further updates will be provided by authorities as available.
