COLEBROOK, N.H. — A joint investigation is underway after a fire at an apartment building on Parsons Street led to the death of one occupant, according to New Hampshire State Fire Marshal Sean P. Toomey and Colebrook Fire Chief David Woodard.
Officials said that just after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2025, members of the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office were notified of a building fire at 29 Parsons Street in Colebrook. During suppression and search operations, Colebrook firefighters located an adult male inside the building. Fire Chief Woodard requested assistance from the State Fire Marshal’s Office following that discovery.
According to investigators, firefighters removed the occupant from the building, provided aid, and transported him to a local hospital. He was subsequently transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he died on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. The victim has been identified as Warren L. Haynes, 59, of Colebrook. Cause and manner of death are pending.
No additional injuries were reported. No other residents or firefighters were injured in connection with the incident.
The New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office, the Colebrook Fire Department, and the Colebrook Police Department are actively investigating the origin and cause of the fire.
