Portland Search Locates Missing Pownal Teen; Man Charged with Kidnapping

PORTLAND, Maine — The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office reports that a week-long investigation into the disappearance of 13-year-old Jadelynn Harlow of Pownal concluded on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, when investigators located her at an apartment at 470 Brighton Avenue in Portland.
According to the sheriff’s office, detectives identified the Brighton Avenue address during the investigation, obtained a search warrant, and executed it with assistance from the Cumberland County Emergency Services Unit (ESU). During the warrant service, deputies safely located Harlow inside the apartment along with Elijah Coleman, 23, and Shelby Cookson, 21.
The sheriff’s office stated that Coleman was already wanted for probation revocation related to domestic-violence charges at the time of contact. The initial release issued on October 14, 2025, at 10:50 p.m. reported that Coleman would be charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, Violation of a Protective Order, Criminal Restraint, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Cookson was interviewed as part of the ongoing case.
