Rockland, Maine

Rockland Police say a month-long drug trafficking investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant and the seizure of suspected crack cocaine in the city’s south end.

According to Rockland Police, a search warrant was executed on January 23, 2026 as part of an investigation into drug trafficking. During the search, officers reported recovering approximately 40 grams of crack cocaine and arresting Jason “JD” Viorla, 40, of Bangor. Police stated Viorla also has suspected ties to North Carolina and New York.

Viorla was charged with Felony Aggravated Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs. Police said the charge is aggravated, in part, due to a prior trafficking conviction.

Rockland Police noted that additional arrests are expected as the investigation continues.

In the release, Rockland Police also said they routinely receive information and complaints from residents about locations suspected of drug trafficking and other quality-of-life issues. The department stated it is committed to a proactive approach, including directed patrols and search warrants, and that it continues to work with Rockland Code Enforcement, landlords and property owners, and partners in the recovery community to address nuisance properties and connect individuals seeking treatment with resources.
