Second-Alarm Structure Fire on Mt. Vernon Avenue; No Injuries Reported

A building fire at 162 Mt. Vernon Avenue in Augusta drew a rapid second-alarm response Monday night after dispatch received a 21:21 hours report and arriving crews confirmed an active structure fire.
According to the release, a request for additional manpower was made immediately and the incident was upgraded to a second alarm. No injuries were reported among building occupants or responding personnel.

Mutual aid at the scene was provided by the Chelsea Fire Department, Vassalboro Fire Department, Gardiner Rescue, and Winthrop Fire Department. Station coverage during the incident was provided by the Hallowell Fire Department and the Manchester Fire Department.

Due to the extent of the damage, the State Fire Marshal’s Office has been contacted and will assist in determining the cause of the fire.
