AUBURN, Maine — A multi-agency vehicle pursuit that began Friday morning after a reported stolen vehicle was located ended in Auburn with five occupants apprehended, including three juveniles and two adults, according to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office

.

At approximately 7:42 a.m. on January 16, 2026, the Sheriff’s Office was notified of a pursuit originating in Auburn. Officials said the pursuit began after an officer with the Lewiston Police Department located a vehicle reported stolen from Saco earlier that morning.

Deputies intercepted the pursuit on Main Street in Lewiston, and the chase continued back into Auburn, where the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office assumed primary responsibility, officials said.

During the pursuit, the fleeing vehicle was involved in two crashes—first at the intersection of Turner and Court streets, and later on Academy Street. Despite the collisions, the vehicle continued to flee until Corporal Dylan Morin terminated the pursuit on Rockhill Avenue in Auburn, according to officials.

Five occupants were apprehended. Officials identified the operator as a 17-year-old male from Saco, who was transported to the Long Creek Youth Development Center. He faces felony charges of Violation of Juvenile Probation, Reckless Conduct with a Dangerous Weapon, and Eluding.

Passenger Jazya Swan, 18, of South Portland, was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Violating Conditions of Release, and Theft by Receiving Stolen Property. Officials said Swan is being held at the Androscoggin County Jail on $750 cash bail.

A 15-year-old female was charged with Unauthorized Use of Property and released to a family member. A 17-year-old male and an 18-year-old female were charged with civil liquor violations and were released, according to officials.

The Auburn Police Department and the Maine Warden Service assisted during the incident.

Officials said the investigation determined the suspects were involved in burglaries of motor vehicles in Portland. Deputies have notified and are working with the Portland Police Department, and additional charges are expected.

Earlier that morning, the Saco Police Department received a report from the vehicle’s owner that a gray 2024 Ford Maverick had been stolen from his residence. Saco Police later observed the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle failed to stop, according to officials.
