Tractor-Trailer Rollover With Entrapment Closes Route 16 in Wakefield; One Transported

WAKEFIELD, N.H. — At 10:42 p.m. last night, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 calls reporting a crash on Route 16 just north of the Union lights. A Wakefield Police Department officer also came upon the scene.
Responding companies arrived to find a tractor-trailer unit rolled over with heavy entrapment. An air medical helicopter was requested, and a landing zone was established at the Paul School. Milton Fire-Rescue was requested with an engine to assist with extrication. Crowell’s Towing & Repair was called to the scene to potentially aid with stabilizing the vehicle while crews worked.
Before a helicopter accepted the mission, the patient was extricated. Wakefield Ambulance 2 initiated a ground transport to Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
Route 16 remained closed until about 1:30 a.m. while responders conducted extrication, secured the scene, and cleared the roadway.
Wakefield units responding included Car 1, Car 2, Rescue 1, Utility 1, Ambulance 2, Ambulance 3, Engine 1, Engine 2, and Engine 4. Additional resources on scene included Milton Engine 6, New Hampshire State Police, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, and Wakefield Police Department.
According to the department, staffing for the incident included dedicated call members, full-time staff responding back, and the duty crew operating from Central, allowing for a robust multi-unit response. No further details regarding patient condition or contributing factors were released at this time.
