Lewiston Fire Under Investigation; One Injured, Two Vehicles Destroyed

Officials are investigating a Tuesday afternoon fire on Lincoln Street in Lewiston that damaged a building, destroyed two vehicles, and sent one person to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.


At approximately 3:30 p.m., Lewiston Fire and Police responded to 551 Lincoln Street for a reported structure fire. Responders found heavy fire on the exterior of the main building spreading rapidly to the interior. Lewiston Fire personnel initiated an aggressive suppression effort and stopped the fire from extending further into the structure.


Two vehicles were destroyed as a result of the fire. A woman in the area at the time sustained burn injuries and was transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. Her injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.


The Office of State Fire Marshal was requested to assist. Investigators processed the scene throughout the day, and the cause remains under investigation.
