I-95 Augusta Crash Involving Stolen Truck Leads to Arrest; Two Injured

AUGUSTA, Maine — The Maine State Police are investigating a multi-vehicle crash on I-95 northbound in Augusta that followed an attempted traffic stop and involved a recently stolen pickup truck. The collision occurred Friday, October 24, 2025, at approximately 4:05 p.m. near mile 119 northbound.
According to the agency, a Major Crimes Central Detective traveling northbound observed a 2008 Toyota Tundra operating erratically and attempted to initiate a stop by activating the cruiser’s blue lights and siren. The Tundra failed to stop. In the area of mile 119, the Tundra struck another vehicle, resulting in a four-vehicle crash that included the Tundra.
Following the impact, the driver fled on foot from the scene. Troop I Troopers responding to the crash apprehended the driver shortly afterward. While on scene, investigators learned the Tundra had recently been reported stolen in Augusta.
State Police report that a passenger in a 2024 Toyota RAV4 and the driver of a 2013 Buick Enclave were transported to MaineGeneral Hospital in Augusta with non-life-threatening injuries. No additional injuries were reported by the agency in its summary of the incident.
The driver of the Tundra was identified as Karl McDougal-Orosco, 34, of Pittsfield. He was transported to the Kennebec County Jail in Augusta. According to the preliminary charging information, McDougal-Orosco faces the following charges in connection with the incident:
Eluding an Officer
Driving to Endanger
Reckless Conduct with a Dangerous Weapon
Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle
Officials noted there were significant traffic delays associated with the crash and on-scene investigation. No secondary crashes occurred as a result of the traffic conditions reported in the area at that time.
Sidney Fire & Rescue, Delta Ambulance, and Ready Road Towing assisted at the scene. The agency’s update did not include additional information regarding lane closures beyond the reported delays, nor did it provide further details on vehicle disposition other than the initial reference to towing and the custody status of the identified driver.
The investigation remains ongoing. This update reflects the sequence provided by State Police: observed erratic operation, attempted stop, failure to stop, crash involving four vehicles, on-foot flight and apprehension, two transports with non-life-threatening injuries, confirmation that the Toyota Tundra was recently stolen, and the listed charges and custody.
