WINCHESTER, N.H. — Town officials have issued an overnight update on the tap-water advisory first announced Monday evening.
According to a Town of Winchester statement, Winchester Fire Department (WFD) was called to a residence on Goamko Drive early Monday afternoon for a medical call involving an odor inside the building. During the response, tap water was identified as a potential source of the odor. Because the building is connected to the municipal supply, the Water Department began testing water sources throughout town.
The response included WFD, Winchester Police Department, the Water Department, Keene Hazmat, Winchester Ambulance, and Cheshire EMS. The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (DES) was later requested to assist. Out of an abundance of caution, an automated message was sent instructing residents to refrain from using tap water until testing could be completed and more information provided.
Update as of 1:00 a.m.: Initial testing has determined the water is usable but not consumable. Additional guidance will be released as continued testing allows.
Residents should continue to follow town instructions. For emergencies, dial 911. For non-emergency questions or concerns related to this advisory, contact the Winchester Emergency Operations Center at (603) 239-6691.
