Antrim Man Charged After Crash, Ambulance Escape, and K-9 Search

ANTRIM, N.H. — On Saturday, November 15, 2025, at about 6:02 p.m., Antrim Police responded to 16 Depot Street for a serious motor vehicle crash after reports that a vehicle had struck a fire hydrant.


Officers found a red 2007 Ford Fusion that had left the roadway and collided with a hydrant, causing significant damage and a large water leak. The driver and sole occupant was identified as Christopher Lachance, 37, of Bennington, who, according to police, was exhibiting signs of impairment.


Antrim Ambulance evaluated Mr. Lachance on scene and began transport to Monadnock Community Hospital for further medical assessment. While en route on Water Street, police say Mr. Lachance exited the moving ambulance and fled into a wooded area. An immediate search began with assistance from Hillsboro Police, and a K-9 unit was requested.


At approximately 7:08 p.m., Sergeant Hodgen of Hillsboro Police and K-9 Voight located Mr. Lachance on North Bennington Road near Bible Hill Road. After he was taken into custody, police report that Mr. Lachance assaulted an officer while being prepared for transport.


Mr. Lachance is charged with:


  • NH RSA 265-A:2 — DUI 2nd

  • NH RSA 642:2 — Resisting Arrest or Detention (×2)

  • NH RSA 631:2-a — Simple Assault

  • NH RSA 637:3 — Theft



According to police, Mr. Lachance was held on preventive detention pending arraignment in the 6th Circuit – Hillsboro District Court on November 17, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
