Arson Investigation Underway Following Fire at Condemned Lewiston Building

The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a fire at a condemned Main Street building in Lewiston that investigators determined was intentionally set.

No injuries were reported, and authorities are asking anyone with information or who noticed suspicious activity in the area to contact investigators.

Fire Reported at Condemned Building

The Lewiston Fire Department responded to 425 Main Street at approximately 9:00 p.m. Tuesday for a reported structure fire.

The building had previously been damaged by a structure fire on July 12. Investigators determined that earlier fire was accidental, and the building was subsequently condemned.

Due to the circumstances surrounding Tuesday night’s fire, the Office of the State Fire Marshal was requested to assist with the investigation.

Fire Classified as Arson

Following an investigation, State Fire Marshal investigators determined that the September 8 fire was intentionally set and classified it as arson.

No injuries were reported.

Investigators Seek Information

The investigation is being conducted jointly by the State Fire Marshal’s Office, Lewiston Fire Department and Lewiston Police Department.
