Avon Log Cabin Destroyed; 15 Pets Lost, Cause Undetermined

A fire Tuesday night destroyed a log cabin in Avon, with no human injuries reported but 15 pets lost, as state investigators work to determine what happened.

According to the release, local firefighters responded at approximately 9:30 p.m. to 461 Square Mile Road for a reported structure fire. The homeowners were not home at the time, and no one was injured. Eleven dogs and four cats were inside the residence; none survived.

Investigators from the Office of State Fire Marshal were requested to the scene. Due to the extent of the damage, the cause could not be determined. No additional information is available at this time.
