The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a single-vehicle crash that seriously injured an 81-year-old driver Tuesday evening on Bridgton Road in Baldwin.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, multiple 911 callers reported the crash at approximately 5:17 p.m. on November 25, 2025, in the area of 404 Bridgton Road. Responding units found a 2005 Ford F-150 operated by Mark Olson, 81, of Kennebunk, with the driver appearing unconscious.
Investigators determined the pickup began to lose control and drifted into the soft shoulder. The vehicle then overcorrected, crossed both lanes of traffic, and struck a brick wall, causing serious injuries to Olson. He was transported to Maine Medical Center for treatment.
The Sheriff’s Office stated that alcohol appears to be a factor, and charges are pending. The roadway was shut down while reconstruction teams processed the scene.
The investigation is being conducted by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit, and the Windham Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit. The Sheriff’s Office thanked the Baldwin Fire Department for assistance, including traffic control during the closure.
The crash remains under investigation. No additional information was released.
