Bicyclist Seriously Injured in Westbrook Crash; Police Seek Witnesses

WESTBROOK, Maine — A 48-year-old man remains hospitalized in serious condition after a crash involving a car and a bicycle Thursday evening at the intersection of Main Street and Tolman Street in Westbrook, according to officials.
Westbrook Police Department and Westbrook Fire Department responded at approximately 4:50 p.m. on Thursday to a report of a crash at Main Street and Tolman Street. When officers arrived, they found the bicyclist on the ground with serious injuries and a bystander performing CPR.
Westbrook Fire Department personnel arrived on scene, took over medical aid, and transported the bicyclist to the hospital, officials said.
Main Street was closed until about 7:22 p.m. while Westbrook Police investigated the crash. The investigation included an officer reconstructing the crash, according to the release.
Police identified the bicyclist as a 48-year-old male. He remains in the hospital in serious condition. The driver of the vehicle was identified as a 16-year-old female.
The investigation remains ongoing. Police said they believe there were multiple witnesses and are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the bicyclist just beforehand to contact Officer Marissa Eastwood at meastwood@westbrook.me.us
