Brewer Police Investigate Reported School Threat; Woman Summonsed After Interfering at Scene

January 21, 2026 — by Scanner Alerts Media

Brewer Police Department officers responded Wednesday morning to assist another law enforcement agency investigating a reported threat in which an individual had communicated an intent to kill school staff and others.

Police said the incident began on January 21, 2026, at approximately 8:16 a.m., when Brewer Police assisted with the investigation and received information identifying a person of interest, described as a male believed to reside in Brewer. As officers staged near a Brewer residence to locate and safely contact the person of interest, Brewer Schools and School Resource Officers were notified for situational awareness and to support appropriate security measures.

During the operation, police reported that a woman who was not involved with the matter drove to the scene and interfered with police activity. According to police, the woman repeatedly sounded an air horn, refused lawful orders to leave, and yelled expletives at officers. Police said the woman stated she “didn’t want ICE” in her neighborhood. Authorities said her actions interfered with law enforcement operations and created a real risk to investigating officers.

Officers later located the person of interest. Police said subsequent investigation determined the individual was not responsible for the reported school threat. Law enforcement later confirmed that multiple educational facilities had received similar threats that morning, which police said were consistent with “swatting” incidents. Once it was confirmed there was no threat to Brewer Schools, normal operations resumed.

In an update, police identified the individual who interfered with police activity as Mary Conmee, 63, of Orrington. Police said Conmee has been summonsed for Disorderly Conduct and Obstructing Government Administration as a result of her conduct during the incident.
