Livermore Falls Fire Department and mutual-aid partners quickly contained a brush fire along railroad tracks near Pine Ridge Loop this afternoon, crediting fast citizen action and coordinated response for limiting the burn area to about one acre.

At 1:59 p.m., Tanker 4 with two firefighters arrived first and observed smoke toward the train tracks. Crews advanced attack lines into the woods and located an active fire along the rails affecting roughly one acre. East Livermore residents had already used garden hoses to slow flames near the tracks.

Mutual aid from Livermore Maine Fire Rescue, Jay Fire & Rescue, Turner Maine Fire Department, Wayne Volunteer Fire Department, and Canton Volunteer Fire Dept. arrived and knocked the fire down within 15–20 minutes. LFFD and partners used side-by-side units to move personnel and equipment and worked remaining hot spots. The cause is under investigation.
