An early-morning pursuit that began in Concord ended with a crash in Pittsfield and the arrest of a 24-year-old local man, according to New Hampshire State Police.

At 2:17 a.m. Saturday, State Police were notified that a driver fled after Concord Police attempted a traffic stop for misuse of plates. A Trooper from the Troop D barracks located the maroon 2006 Chevrolet Equinox; when the driver again failed to stop, a pursuit began.

Troopers say the driver continued east on I-393 and onto Route 9 in Chichester, ran a red light, then sped along backroads—disregarding multiple stop signs—before heading north on Route 28 into Pittsfield. The chase ended when the Equinox struck a tree near Dowboro Road and Western Mills Road.

The driver briefly ran into nearby woods but returned to the scene and was taken into custody. He was identified as Travis Bennett Lufkin, 24, of Concord.

Lufkin is charged with felony possession of a controlled drug; felon in possession of a deadly weapon; reckless conduct; disobeying an officer; aggravated DUI; reckless operation; operating after suspension; misuse of plates; driving on a divided way (crossing the median); and violation of a traffic control device. He is being held at the Merrimack County Jail on preventive detention pending arraignment in Concord District Court on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025, at 11 a.m.

A female passenger was transported to Concord Hospital for evaluation of minor injuries. Neither Lufkin nor responding Troopers were injured. Pittsfield police and fire personnel assisted at the scene.
