Dixmont Man Charged With Attempted Murder Following Reported Shooting

DIXMONT, Maine — A Dixmont man was arrested Friday night and charged with attempted murder following a reported incident involving a firearm and multiple crime scenes in the area, according to information released by deputies.
On December 12, 2025, at 9:15 p.m., the Penobscot Regional Communications Center received a call reporting that a male was out of control and recklessly discharging a firearm on Masonic Road in Dixmont. Deputies responded with what officials described as an appropriate level of resources and detained Caleb Springer, 25, of Dixmont.
Following an investigation, deputies identified three victims described as friends and family of Springer. Officials said the incident involved multiple crime scenes in the area.
According to the release, one of the victims was shot at while seated in their vehicle. Deputies said other victims received injuries after being struck with a bat.
Springer was arrested and transported to the Penobscot County Jail. He was charged with Attempted Murder (Class A), Aggravated Reckless Conduct (Class B), and Aggravated Assault (Class B). Officials said additional charges are expected to be filed.
Deputies said they are continuing to investigate and are reviewing the facts with the District Attorney’s Office.
