FARMINGTON, NH — The Farmington Fire Department reports that a swift and coordinated response contained a deck fire that extended into a multi-unit residential building on Central Street, preventing further spread and keeping residents safe.
According to the department, the incident began on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at approximately 8:45 p.m. (2045), when units were dispatched to 124 Central Street for a reported fire on the rear deck of a multi-unit residence. While responding, Farmington Engine 3 initiated a first-alarm assignment due to the potential for rapid extension. En route, Farmington Police updated that there was heavy fire showing from the rear and corrected the address to 114 Central Street.
Engine 3 arrived moments later and deployed a handline to the rear of the structure, conducting a swift, aggressive transitional attack that knocked down significant exterior fire and checked the spread. Rochester Chief 2 arrived and assumed command. Interior operations were led by Rochester Engine 4 and Milton Truck 5, which made an interior push to the second floor, encountering heavy fire conditions. Crews from all agencies worked seamlessly to extinguish the blaze and hold it to the second-floor apartment.
Officials report no injuries. All occupants were safely accounted for. The coordinated first-due actions, followed by effective interior operations, contained the fire to the area of origin and prevented extension to adjacent units.
Mutual aid companies responded from Rochester, Milton, New Durham, Alton, Wakefield, Strafford, and Wolfeboro. Frisbie EMS provided medical standby at the scene. The Farmington Fire Department extended sincere thanks to all mutual aid partners, noting that the professionalism and coordination of all responders were instrumental to protecting residents and firefighters and limiting property loss.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
