HAMPTON FALLS, N.H. — A California man was arrested after a pursuit on Interstate 95 that began in Hampton Falls and ended near Exit 3 in Portsmouth. According to New Hampshire State Police, the driver is charged in connection with alleged speeding, flight from a traffic stop, and possession of multiple fraudulent driver’s licenses.

At 9:30 p.m. on Monday, October 20, 2025, Trooper Patrick Vetter of Troop A observed a 2023 Chevrolet Malibu traveling 98 mph in a posted 65 mph zone on I-95 northbound in Hampton Falls. Trooper Vetter attempted a traffic stop; the driver did not stop and a pursuit ensued.

After a brief struggle, the driver was taken into custody and identified as Gongping Cheng, 39, of Monterey Park, California.

During the post-stop investigation, troopers located several driver’s licenses from multiple states bearing numerous false identities, according to State Police. Following that discovery and the pursuit-related events, charges were filed.
