LACONIA, N.H. — Lakes Region Mutual Fire Aid (LRMFA), which provides 24/7 Fire/EMS emergency communications, mutual aid coordination, and hazardous materials response support to 35 communities in New Hampshire’s Lakes Region, reports that its team received multiple recognitions at last week’s APCO Atlantic Chapter conference in Mystic, Connecticut. The center dispatched nearly 30,000 emergency calls in 2024.

LRMFA attendees were Chief Jon Goldman (Atlantic Chapter Executive Council Representative), Deputy Chief Erin Hannafin (Atlantic Chapter Training Committee Chair), Lt. Matt LaDuke, and Dispatcher Josh Hanson. The conference emphasized professional development and dispatcher wellness, highlighted by a keynote from Amanda “AK” Dozanti encouraging dispatchers to acknowledge wins and recognize the meaningful impact of their work.
At the chapter’s annual awards banquet, Lt. Matt LaDuke and Dispatcher Josh Hanson were honored with the 2025 Atlantic Chapter of APCO “Team of the Year” Award for their work during an April water rescue in Laconia. During that incident, a cold and exhausted man was drifting down the Winnipesaukee River toward the dam. According to Laconia Deputy Fire Chief Jay Ellingson, the real-time information provided by LRMFA, while it was simultaneously relayed to field companies, was critical to the successful outcome.
During the closing luncheon, Atlantic Chapter President Anne Camaro presented the President’s Award to Deputy Chief Erin Hannafin. The award, given at the President’s discretion, recognizes exceptional contributions throughout the year and cited Deputy Chief Hannafin’s “unwavering commitment and selfless acts of service” to the chapter and the conference committee.
Chief Jon Goldman praised the team’s performance, noting the organization’s talented professionals and the pride in seeing them recognized for doing the right thing.
LRMFA continues to provide round-the-clock emergency communications, mutual aid coordination, and hazmat response support across the region.
