Maine State Police Investigating Fatal Crash in Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD, Maine — The Maine State Police responded at approximately 5:55 a.m. to a single-vehicle crash on I-95 northbound near Mile Marker 143. Troopers located a 2012 Subaru Impreza that had entered the median and become lodged in the trees. The driver, identified as Rae Hartford, 56, of Scarborough, was pronounced deceased at the scene and required extrication.

Preliminary findings indicate speed and intoxication were likely contributing factors. Lane 1 was closed for about two hours during the on-scene investigation and recovery.
