Maine State Police Investigating Two Deaths in Tremont

TREMONT, Maine — Maine State Police are investigating after two deceased adults were found Tuesday morning near Big Rocks Road in Tremont.
According to Maine State Police, at approximately 8:57 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, Southwest Harbor Police responded to a 911 call reporting an incident in the area of Big Rocks Road. The caller reported finding two deceased adults at the scene.
Members of the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit North responded and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths in coordination with Southwest Harbor Police. Maine State Police said the deceased will be transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where autopsies will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death.
In addition, members of the Maine State Police Evidence Response Team were dispatched to the scene and will work to process available evidence, police said.
Maine State Police stated they believe this is an isolated incident with no ongoing public safety concerns. Officials said more information will be released as it becomes available.
